Culture.

Among the local celebrations the most notable are The Carpets (Las Alfombras) made with lots of coloured earth from the Teide, with flowers, branches and marine sands, they are masterpieces of popular art. The Octava del Corpus, the Guildhall plaza and other adjoining streets are decorated three or four weeks previously. The tapestry in the Guildhall plaza needs more than two tonnes of volcanic earth gathered from the folds of the Teide area.

The pilgrimage of San Isidro, in May, is one of the most popular on the island.
